I love everything Marianne Evans writes. This story is no exception. We rarely see a political hero, but Marianne manages to make Matt believable. I like the family drama and the developing romance between Matt and Heather. Heather is a strong woman in Christ and holds her own in the face of Matt's potential overpowering presence as a politician. Nicely done!Product details

By Appointment Only Sal Place Book 3 edition by Marianne Evans Religion Spirituality eBooks Reviews
I have to say that this is my kind of romance novel. Author, Marianne Evans, packed it chock full of all the elements I like to see in one Both hero and heroine strong, yet sensitive; humor, tragedy, intelligence, emotion. And, of course, we can't leave out LOVE.

I especially liked the authentic feel to the story. Every emotion, every conversation, every action is perfectly placed, giving each a natural feel. One of the things that made this book so enjoyable to read, is the author's skill in carefully constructing sentences that make you forget you're only reading a book. For example
Sal iced Jack with a single look.
Or
Why then, did the rest of the world fall away except for the way their eyes met, held and dueled?
Nice.
There are many other reasons why I truly enjoyed this book, but they would be spoilers, and I know readers wouldn't want that, so you'll all have to pick up this book and see for yourself how delightful it is. No one who is a reader of romance novels will be disappointed by this story.

I'm not a big reader of inspirational romances but I end up judging a lot of them in contests because I will read them and remain objective. This is one book I really enjoyed. It won first place in the International Digital Awards' Inspirational Novel category. Author, Marianne Evans presents an interesting story with likable characters you want to root for. Caveat I was part of the judging staff for the IDA and was provided a copy of this book.
Politician Matt Bellinger grew up in Grosse Point, a son of privilege but also raised to believe in personal responsibility and hard work. It's his journey of faith that this story follows. While on the campaign stump, he meets Heather Cavanaugh, local homeless advocate and tireless volunteer. When she challenges Matt to put his hands where his mouth is, they spend a lot of time together. Heather is from a blue-collar family who once had dreams of college and is now a sought-after stylist at an up-scale salon. There's some parental frictions that develops from their backgrounds but it all adds to the story.
Ms. Evan's style creates realistic emotions and conversations, allowing the reader to almost "eavesdrop" on the characters. A fairly short read but well worth it. I really enjoyed the story. 4.5 stars
Matt Bellinger is running for state senate and has a real heart for working hard toward bettering his community. When he shows up at Sal's Place to promote a bill concerning volunteerism, he meets Heather Cavanaugh. She's a hair stylist but also works tirelessly as a volunteer. Though they are nothing alike, he is drawn to her spunky personality but also to her gentle yet strong faith. He sees in her an inner peacefulness that he wants. Since faith is unseen, Matt has a hard time accepting it but seeks to find out about the God who gives Heather such unwavering strength. His new understanding of faith, however, is quickly challenged when a family member is diagnosed with a serious illness. Will Matt be able to hold on to his new found faith and find the inner peace he longs to possess?
Once again this author dishes up a heapin' helpin' of faith with a generous side of romance. I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know Matt and Heather. I loved their playfulness toward each other. It just made me smile. The struggles that each one faced were very relatable, especially Matt. Just like Matt, we don't always understand why God allows certain things to happen but as the Bible states, God's ways are not our ways. This side of heaven we won't understand why things happen the way they do. But we do know that everything from God is good, even the bad things and we can trust that He is right there with us to see us through. What an encouraging message. It was fun returning to Sal's Place again and getting a whiff of all the good dishes Sal is cooking up. It made me hungry. Jennifer is a familiar face there and she'll be happy to take your order! By Appointment Only is the third installment in the Sal's Place Series and was a joy to read!

This was a great quick read. Good story plot. Kept my attention. Cannot wait for the next book to come out.
If you like inspirational fiction, you can't beat Marianne Evans. She never disappoints. She grabs your attention from page 1.
